Declaration's Journey Teacher Resources

Explore the global and historical impact of the Declaration of Independence using the links below to access modular activities and ready-made worksheets. Unit 1 takes students through the dawn of the Declaration and the reactions that people had to the document in 1776. Units 2 and 4 explore the Declaration’s influence on world history in different eras, while Units 3 and 5 let students dive deeper into how Americans viewed and pushed for the promise of the Declaration since 1776.  

Each unit is supported by one of the Big Ideas essays, as well as by a glossary of key terms. Paintings, photographs, historical objects, other declarations, and additional primary sources are woven throughout each of the five units. Activities are geared towards students at the middle school and high school level but are written to support teacher flexibility in increasing or decreasing the challenge as appropriate for your students.
